A look into the life of a Characterization Engineer
At the start you will be characterizing a new product in an automated RF test set-up and report its performance, for example, S-Par, Load-Pull, power sweeps, ruggedness, temperature drift, and Infra-Red measurements. In the next phase documenting the product performance by analyzing and summarizing your measurements results in the product documentation You will be providing your results with a conclusion and advice to your team and supporting them in the selection of the best/optimal product version. And in the closing phase of the Product Creation, you will be industrializing your Product Test Solution into our manufacturing location in the Philippines
In this role the Characterization Engineer is responsible for:
  • Assembling, tuning, and releasing test circuits including documentation
  • Performing measurements on Test Benches
  • Playing an active role in the standardization of measurement processes and improvements
  • Documenting measurements, processes, and supports in updating Test Methods • Setting up the complete test bench including calibration
  • Resolving practical issues to achieve required measurement accuracy.
  • Performing regular checks and correlation of setups.
  • Translate an RF Mechanical development into Electrical validation method(s) in cooperation with Mechanical Engineering
  • Set up an investigation structure, execute as such, and bring outcome/results to the next level: organization buy-in
  • Supporting other team members in electrical and mechanical activities
  • Supporting, maintaining, and contributing to the 5S infrastructure of the lab
  • Following the internal ESD and radiation procedures

Your profile
  • Bachelors/ Masters in RF, Electromechanics, Electronics, Telecommunications, or similar field or technician with at least five years of experience
  • Technical affinity, preferably with the semiconductor industry
  • Familiar with RF measurement techniques and RF lab equipment (VNA, power-meter, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Handling the RF set-up, thermal & IR set-ups for a full range of RF products, (RF, DC, S-parameter, power sweep, Load Pull)
  • Able to perform statistical analysis Experience in the following skills: (would be pro) • Knowledge of RF PCB Design, ADS Momentum & simulation tool experience
  • Tools like TCAD, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Siemens NX, etc.
  • Experience with board assembly (SMD, connectors, soldering, milling, drilling, etc)
  • Comfortable with solving issues in electrical and mechanical domain
  • Integration support between mechanical and electronic competencies
  • Lack of certain knowledge can be offered by training from experienced colleagues
  • Self-starting and pro-active attitude
  • Hands-on mentality, lab work affinities, and service-oriented to support fellow end users • Customer focus, results-oriented and quality-conscious
  • Exploring, curious, open. why not do it different, enthusiastic personality
  • Accurate, looking for improvement opportunities, work smart iso hard
