You are going to be part of
the BU MBB R&D team. The team develops high-performance RF Power amplifier products for the Mobile Broadband (MBB) market. In your role as MBB Applications Manager, you will lead a team of ~15 RF engineers located in Nijmegen who both design new RF Power applications and develop the underlying RF Power amplifier concepts. The applications team s charter is to drive design-in execution and customer support and work on improvements in key system parameters eg the signal bandwidth, the linearized efficiency, and solution size by optimizing the amplifier application and feeding requirements back to the design team. The applications team works closely together with the other MBB applications teams in Ampleon located in Toulouse (France) and Shanghai (China) as well as the Field Application Engineers (FAEs) located at key customer sites.

A look into the life of an MBB Application Manager

• Resource management - development and career guidance of staff, job rotation, motivation, coaching, support, and appraisal. Coordinate application resources to NPI and NTI
• Competence management – build and maintain a world-class Customer Applications team and champion improvements in RF Power application competencies matching Ampleon’s roadmaps
• Drive knowledge and expertise in the RF Power application development, Doherty amplifier design, and product design-in together with Ampleon Sales and Marketing
• Engage and build relations with external customer development teams to drive the application and design-in of Ampleon products by providing expert technical support and solving the customer's issues at the application level
• Maintain a high level of applications lab infrastructure to support system development (including Digital Predistortion) and anticipate new system trends
• Mentor, grow, and inspire your team members providing continuous feedback to your team members to support them in their roles. Set priorities and remove obstacles to enable your staff to operate efficiently and reach their full potential
• Lead by example:
• o Perform/assist/guide root cause analysis of technical problems, provide resolutions, and embed the learnings into the applications development flow.
• o Provide technical leadership by developing and communicating customer engagement strategies
• Competitor Benchmarking - In-depth understanding of our competitor's offering, both in products and application support. Contribute to the in-depth analysis of competitor’s product and application circuit architecture and use learnings to improve our offering

Your profile

• You are passionate about RF technology and applications
• You have a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics or equivalent
• You have 10 years of relevant RF product and/or applications development experience with strong technical skills
• You are a team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet product requirements with punctuality and professionalism
• 5+ years of management experience working directly with engineering teams is a pro
• You have good analytical problem-solving skills
• You have a pro-active attitude, hands-on mentality, team player, and good English communication skills, both verbal and in writing
• You have excellent interpersonal and people management skills
• You are ambitious and have an entrepreneurial attitude
• You can effectively lead teams and inspire others to achieve goals through quality and excellence
• You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing
• Dutch language is a pro
