The team:

We are the central Data and Analytics team at Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe, headquartered in Amsterdam. Our team plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s journey toward a fully data-driven mindset. We are responsible for setting up the structure, processes, and technologies needed to empower the business with reliable data and insights, enabling more efficient decision-making, increased productivity, and fostering innovation. 

Our mission is to provide reliable and actionable insights to the organization. We achieve this by building a robust and scalable data platform that leverages cutting-edge technologies and methodologies (we work with Azure, Databricks and PowerBI). This platform enables us to implement diverse reporting and analytics use cases efficiently. We take pride in delivering high-quality data products that drive decision-making, foster innovation, and shape the future of the company. 

Our team is composed of data engineers and data analyst/scientist. The data engineers take care mostly of the technical aspects of our data platform, making sure pipelines are running smoothly as well as implementing new ones. The data analyst/scientist are the bridge between the technical environment and the business, they are responsible for translating business needs into technical requirements and working together with the Data engineers, deliver reliable data products.(dashboards, reports, forecasts, ad-hoc analysis, among others). We are one team sharing the same mission, objectives and way of working

The role: 

As a (Senior) Data Analyst, you will take a strategic role in shaping the organization's analytics capabilities. You will lead initiatives to translate complex business needs into actionable insights, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate with data engineers to build scalable solutions. Your work will directly impact the company’s decision-making process and its ability to innovate and improve productivity. It is expected that you play a role sometime in high level discussions as well as deep diving into specific content. 

The responsibilities: 

  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for analytics and develop strategies to address them. 

  • Design and implement robust and scalable data models in collaboration with data engineers, using tools like Databricks. 

  • Create advanced, scalable BI dashboards with a strong focus on user experience and performance optimization (we use PowerBI). 

  • Conduct in-depth analyses to uncover insights and provide actionable recommendations. 

  • Lead efforts to standardize and automate reporting processes across the organization. 

  • Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering their technical and professional growth. 

  • Contribute to defining and implementing governance and best practices for data analytics and visualization. 

Who are we looking for: 
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. 
  • Experience: 3-7 years in data analytics or a related field, with a demonstrated ability to drive impact through analytics. 

  • Expertise in BI Tools (Big plus for PowerBI), custom visuals, and report optimization. 

  • Strong SQL skills for complex queries and data transformations. 

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks or any other data modelling tool, for building and optimizing data models. 

  • Good understanding of Cloud Computing.  

  • Proficiency in Python or R for advanced analytics are nice to have. 

  • Intermediate knowledge of statistical models and machine learning. 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Effective communication to collaborate with business stakeholders. 

  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt.
