We are currently looking for a new colleague to join the position of Head of Legal at Hitachi Construction Machinery headquarter in Amsterdam.

Department: Legal
Experience: Min. 8 years
Working hours: 32 – 40 Hours
Languages: native/fluent Dutch and English

What you will be doing
  • To understand the pressure points, strategy and objectives of the business in order to effectively communicate the risks and legal issues involved in any decision
  • To conduct research on corporate laws and regulations, not limited to export control; GDPR and competition law, in order to propose and promote policies and procedures which shall ensure compliancy to these laws and regulations by the organisation.
  • To draft or review legal documents, not limited to agreements, as required by the organisation
  • To handle legal disputes with third parties or individuals
  • To  provide guidance on corporate governance
  • To document and file any document required to demonstrate appropriate corporate governance by the management
  • To manage the insurance portfolio
  • To report on legal activities, risks and litigation to the management and legal sections of the mother company
  • To conduct legal training for the organisation
  • To direct the departmental staff
  • The head of legal is responsible for the effective execution of legal activities.

What you will need to succeed
  • BSc, BEng or MSc degree in International Business Law
  • Native/fluent Dutch (because of working with Dutch Law)
  • Native/fluent English
  • Experience in sales, procurement, privacy, competition law, commercial transactions (must have). Experience with IT law and tax law (nice to have).
  • Good time management, ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
